ICC Prosecutor Bensouda explains decision to drop charges against 1 Kenya defendant

Citing difficulties with witnesses and resistance from the government of the Republic of Kenya, International Criminal Court Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda today announced that her office has asked ICC judges to dismiss charges against Francis Kirimi Muthaura, 1 of 4 defendants who’d been set for trial in the Situation in Kenya.  Charges against 3 other accused – including the men just declared winners of Kenya’s Presidency and Vice Presidency – remain.
